Winter safari - musk ox & moose

In the period november - march we organise wintersafaris. Join a unique safari and experience the musk ox or moose - or perhaps both? - in beautiful winter sceneries.

Musk ox are impressive animals all year round, but it is during the winter that they come into their own. The tour takes places in Dovrefjell National Park, where you get to admire the muskox together with our guide. The guide knows the area very well and ensures everyone’s safety along the way.

This safari takes ca 5-6 hours, and because of snow conditions and ascent we advise to use snowshoes. These can be rented upon arrival. We hike in small groups of max 10 people per guide. The minimum age is 13 years.

We advise to wear multiple layers: thermal underwear, fleece or woolen sweater and a water-/windproof jacket and trousers, as well as woolen socks and waterproof shoes with ankle support, or boots. In addition, we advise to bring an extra (down) jacket, to put on when we’e eating lunch, ski goggles/sun glasses, and gaiters when there’s a lot of snow. And of course, don’t forget your hat, scarf and gloves!

Moose safari

Our local guide takes you to the area surrounding Dovrefjell National Park to go search for the “king of the forest”. The guide drives a minivan, which makes this a comfortable safari - no matter the weather. This safari includes a break in the forest with a campfire, where we also will look for tracks from moose and other wildlife.

This safari is only offered with private guide.
This is kr 3250 for 1-2 people. Every person extra is kr 250 pp. Max 8 people.
